About Samba Packages
Quest software recommends that you obtain and install the latest version of Samba from your operating system vendor, or associated OS community website. Use the tools provided with Quest's Samba Identity Mapper to configure Samba servers provide by your vendor for use with VAS. Quest Software provides standalone Samba packages for customers who need a more recent version of samba than their vendor provides in order to interoperate with Quest Authentication Services (VAS) and Active Directory.
The Quest Samba server packages are designed to minimise dependencies, and contain executables that have been statically linked with open source libraries.

Please note: Quest Samba's host key updates do not work with VAS 3.1.1.39; this will be fixed in a future release of VAS.

Sources
Our source packages are normally structured to contain the original upstream source distribution and a patch file. Source distributions were obtained from Samba, OpenLDAP, GNU libiconv, and Heimdal distribution sites. We mirror the source archives.
